Two hunters are invited to embark on the hunting adventure of a lifetime with Shane Johnston of Four Seasons Safaris New Zealand. This extraordinary 5-day guided expedition features world-class pursuits for Red Stag up to SCI 400”, Chamois, Alpine Goat, and an unforgettable ocean fishing charter — all set amidst some of the most breathtaking landscapes anywhere on Earth.
Shane Johnston, SCI Life Member and one of the most respected figures in international hunting, has spent over 25 years guiding and outfitting hunters across New Zealand. With numerous prestigious awards from DSC, HSC, and SCI Nebraska, Shane stands among the industry’s elite. Under his expert leadership, you will experience the finest professional service and the true essence of New Zealand adventure. Prepare to be awestruck. From the towering snow-capped peaks of the majestic Southern Alps to the dramatic cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, every moment in the field promises scenery that most hunters only dream of. Whether you’re stalking massive Red Stag, navigating the rugged alpine slopes for Tahr and Chamois, or simply taking in the untouched wilderness of the South Island, this journey defines adventure.
Hunters may use rifle, bow, or muzzleloader, and the hunt is available for open dates March through August in either 2026 or 2027. The experience can be upgraded with additional hunting days, non-hunters, or extra species at current pricing. Your transportation is part of the thrill: comfortable side-by-side Can-Ams carry you across the lush Stag country, while helicopter access elevates your Chamois hunt — literally — to the dramatic heights of the Alps. The helicopter flights soar over glittering blue glaciers and rugged peaks, providing views as unforgettable as the hunt itself.
Four Seasons Safaris proudly owns its pristine estate, home to phenomenal trophy animals and unmatched photographic opportunities. Specializing in New Zealand’s full spectrum of big-game species, Four Seasons can also curate customized itineraries for hunters and non-hunters alike. Options include: ocean fishing, kayaking, helicopter scenic safaris, golf, horse treks, whale watching, scuba diving, trout fishing, train excursions, zip-lining, Champagne and gin distillery tours, spa days, wine tasting, shopping excursions…and so much more for families and adventurers of every age.
Your hunt can be upgraded to pursue even larger stags or additional species. Extra days and activities can be added to build your ultimate New Zealand escape. Additional hunters and observers are always welcome. You will hunt the game-rich Kaikoura region on the East Coast of the South Island, a breathtaking destination overlooking the Pacific. With spot-and-stalk hunting across vast hillsides and well-established 4×4 tracks, hunters are spoiled with an abundance of high-quality game. This region is famed for producing some of the world’s largest Red Stags, along with Elk, Fallow, White Stag, Goats, Arapawa Rams, and Boar. Tahr and Chamois hunting lie only a helicopter ride away — an Alpine highlight guaranteed to stay etched in your memory long after the adventure ends.
Your accommodations are nothing short of spectacular: the luxurious Four Seasons Lodge, an exclusive retreat overlooking your stag hunting grounds, complete with gourmet cuisine and fine New Zealand refreshments. Beyond the hunt itself, you’ll enjoy an ocean fishing charter and a classic Kiwi beachside dining experience — complete with a selection of local beers and wines, great music, and the unforgettable sight of the Pacific waves at sunset.
