Deron, an Ohio native, has shared 35 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Patricia. Together they have raised twin children, Tony and Taylor, and enjoy spending time with their granddaughter, Bailey.
Deron began hunting in Ohio at the age of 10 with his grandfather. Hunting and trapping quickly became his passion and have led him to harvest 399 free-range species, 357 of which are recognized as Weatherby species. He has embarked on more than 160 international hunting adventures across six continents and 49 countries.
His greatest passion lies in mountain hunting, where he has collected 83 distinct Ovis and Capra species, including all six huntable Markhor species and, to date, the first and only Himalayan Goral ever taken in Pakistan. His pursuit of the world’s wild sheep and goats has taken him to Asia on 41 separate occasions.
Deron also enjoys hunting Africa’s diverse game species, including dangerous game, spiral-horned and ring-horned antelope, and predators. He particularly values the challenge of hunting duikers and pygmy antelopes—often overlooked species found in a wide variety of habitats, each presenting unique challenges.
Deron is a past recipient of the Conklin Award, the Pantheon Award, and the Ovis Award.
